Open Air church and heavy labour
Hi friends! We've had an intense, but rewarding couple of days here in Slovakia!
On Wednesday, Dana started her teaching sessions with a lesson on building our foundation on solid rock. After that, we got to do the opposite of building a foundation, because we were asked to fill a dumpster with concrete and building materials that had been left in a pile after recent renovations. It was hard work for Evelyn, Dana, and Maggie! Arameh was involved in cleaning up a nearby creek that was clogged with debris. Needless to say, we were all pretty dirty after that! It was so encouraging to see the kids helping without complaining. Praise God that no one was injured!
We met a woman named Loredana who is a missionary from Mexico working with a church in Slovakia, so we spent some time getting to know her. In the afternoon, we went for ice cream and then to a local church. We attended the church's midweek service in the open air. Dana shared about our team's work, and Maggie gave her testimony. It was a wonderful experience.
After this, we went back to Berea and had a fruitful discussion with the church leaders about how to engage the kids on some of the topics we've been discussing. It seems some of the kids had questions about Maggie's Surrender session that touched on issues like sexual sin. Pray that hearts will be reached and that God will protect these kids from our over sexualized culture. We prayed with the leaders and hope to have a chance for more discussion tonight.
Today it was Evelyn's turn to teach and the teens were more engaged than in the past. Pray that they took the lessons to heart. After this, we filled another large dumpster with construction debris. I think we've all earned an ice cream cone!
Please keep praying for these teens. Some are not believers. Pray especially for one boy from a broken home who does not know Christ, but comes to Berea because he receives love and attention here. Pray that we will finish the week well.
Dear Slovak Team,
ReplyDeletePraying for Godly wisdom as you modify your lessons and that you would reach the teens, including this young boy who so desperately needs love.
